The Surface 3 might make more people recognize Microsoft's design chops.Ĭompared to the 1.76-pound Surface Pro 3, the Surface 3 is noticeably lighter and better-suited to being used as a tablet. The previous Surface's wide screen just felt more awkward when held in one hand - especially in portrait mode. And while that means the Surface 3 will show black bars when watching movies, the new proportions make it far more balanced to hold as a tablet. The Surface 3 adopts the 3:2 screen aspect ratio from the Surface Pro 3 for its 10.8-inch screen, which makes it resemble a sheet of paper more than the wide 16:9 displays on previous Surfaces. The two tablets still feel very different, though. At 1.37 pounds and 0.34 inch thick, the Surface 3 is also a tad lighter and thinner than the Surface 2, which clocked in at 1.49 pounds and 0.35 inch thick. It features a new Intel Atom x7 processor, which lets it run traditional Windows apps, unlike the previous Tegra 4 chip.

This time around there's also support for Microsoft's pressure-sensitive stylus, something that's always been available on the Surface Pro series, but never the plain Surface line.ĭon't take my lack of surprise as a negative, though - the Surface 3 is still incredibly well-designed, with an attention to detail you don't find on most laptops and tablets. It's not nearly as versatile as the Surface Pro 3's fully customizable kickstand (which has no distinct positions), but it's enough to make the Surface 3 fit comfortably on your lap in many different orientations. And of course, there's the iconic kickstand, which can now click into three positions, one step beyond the Surface 2. It has the same silver magnesium alloy case with smooth chamfered edges, which gives it a smooth, premium feel in your hands. The new mob called the Warden will spawn, the new sculk blocks can also be found in this biome, and this biome also contains deepslate. Mojang has not revealed much information about this new cave biome apart from what they have shown in the Minecon 2020 live stream.

It can bring a player with full netherite armor's health down to 3 and a half hearts in a single blow. The Warden is an incredibly strong mob with a total health of 15 hearts. If they find a Warden in the Deep Dark, they can distract it by throwing projectiles like snowballs and arrows, as the Warden can sense the vibrations of these projectiles hitting the ground. Luckily, players can avoid a terrifying battle with the Warden as long as they hide their footsteps by sneaking. Based on what we've seen from the Minecon 2020, the Warden seems to be hostile towards the player as long as it can sense their footsteps. Just like the sculk blocks, the Warden can sense vibrations. The Warden is going to be the first-ever blind mob in Minecraft. New mobĮven after the addition of three new mobs in the first part of the Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update, Mojang has saved one more mob for its players. The sculk sensors will not detect vibrations if there is a wool block between the sensor and the player or item causing the vibrations. The new block has intrigued Redstone engineers about the future of Redstone and how wireless Redstone contraptions can now be made possible using the sculk sensors. The vibrations could come from many things, for example, footsteps or an arrow hitting the ground. The sculk sensor can detect vibrations around it to a specific range and emit a Redstone signal.
